This original collection is inspired by the many al fresco gatherings Megan has hosted over the years in our beloved Leelanau Peninsula.
"Across the Table" was painted based off of photo taken by Mae Stier from a Harvest Gathering held at the Hygge Stay Farmhouse in Northport, Michigan. These gatherings are incredibly important part of life in Leelanau and Traverse City. They bring locals back together after a busy summer season and allow us all to reconnect and celebrate the bounty of a the summer and early fall harvests. The tables are filled with local wine that you never would find at a winery and food that celebrates the abundance of our area. Everyone comes dressed for dinner but in warm layers. It is the most beautiful time of year in Northern Michigan.
Katherine’s balance of realism and abstraction gives life and familiarity to these candid interactions, telling a beautiful story about seasonal living on the Great Lakes.Their names are intended to sound like a conversation you’ve had with your friends and family while planning a meal or passing a dish. Like the scenes they depict, they are welcoming and casual – the perfect complement to the life and love in your home.
Paintings are mixed media acrylic, gouache and neo-crayon on birch wood panel. They are set in a 2.5” deep maple wood floater frame. They are signed by Katherine and ready to hang.
The clean-cut edges and minimalist frames set boundaries for Katherine’s loose brush strokes and playful marks.
